If you are a woman or part of the gender diverse community, please join us. We’d love to see and meet you. During the Women’s Festival, on 10 September, we will host an event introducing our plans for the new Community Centre, collecting your suggestions and, most importantly, inviting applications from you to become members.

Location

The Sappho Community Centre is in the space known most recently as Sappho’s Palace and before that as Eressos Palace.

Our approach

The Sappho Community Centre strives to be an inclusive space built on equality, mutual respect, and continuous learning. We welcome women and gender diverse people of all ages and backgrounds.

Together with our future members, we will organise events, workshops and projects that meet the needs of our diverse community. This will be a member-led space, shaped by the people who participate in it.

In our next announcements we will let you know how to apply for membership and we will open up links for donations.

Founding meeting

At the end of September, we are planning to hold our founding General Assembly, where members will officially establish the association, adopt its founding documents, and elect the first Board of Directors.

So far, we have set up a non-profit organisation called Sapphic Community Organization, which is the new lease holder for the building alongside the EL*C (Eurocentralasian Lesbian Community).

A temporary Steering Committee has developed the Mission Statement, Articles of Association, and the Guidance Document that will be proposed for adoption at the General Assembly and binding on all Members.

In the meantime, the Centre will continue to host workshops, events, and activities while we get ready.
